TRU Simulation + Training, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that Pan Am International Flight Academy has received Level D qualification from the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) for its A320 FFS X™ Full Flight Simulator installed in Miami, Florida.
The TRU A320-200 full flight simulator is configured to meet Airbus A320 standard 1.8.1 and features a number of advanced technologies—including state-of-the-art electric control loading, six Degrees of Freedom (6-DOF) electric motion system, and moveable forward-facing instructor operating station tower with multiple high-definition, color touch-screen displays. The front-projection visual system provides a 200-degree horizontal by 40-degree vertical Field of View (FOV) and image display from a three-channel, PC-based image generator and LED projectors.
With this qualification, TRU Simulation + Training met an important customer requirement—the ability to deliver a high technology, high fidelity device within a short window of time. TRU manufactured, installed, obtained customer on-site acceptance and received FAA qualification in just over five months from contract signature.
